The activity backpack for families is an exciting and interactive way of getting to know more about the Cēsis Medieval Castle. You can receive the backpack in the Visitor Centre of the Castle Complex. It is full of tasks which allow you to get to know the castle and what it was like to live in it centuries ago. You will draw, decipher, measure, search and perform various other exciting activities. The tasks are described in Latvian or Russian.
You will have the chance to see the unique 16th century room with the magnificent star dome at the top of the Eastern Tower. From there you can see a great view of the surroundings of the castle and the city.
You will have the chance to try out medieval bowling together with your family. It is played by rolling a ball down a path to try to knock down the heavy wooden pins. There are historical records that prove that this game was especially popular already in the first half of the19th century.
The family can spend time in the Medieval Garden as well. There they can enjoy their packed meal at wooden tables. The children can test their balance on a wooden log at the children's area. There they can also swing on wooden swings or bake sand cakes in the sandbox.
