What is Turaida Castle Made Of?

During this activity, students will learn about the production of clay building materials in the Middle Ages, explore the Turaida Brick Castle, and examine the bricks used in its construction.

They will also visit the site of the Turaida brick kiln and create their own brick. The program includes hands-on activities, such as measuring and comparing the sizes of ancient bricks, determining the oldest and newest bricks, mixing clay, placing it in wooden molds, and forming bricks.
