Indulge in the Fashion of Autumn Flavours in the Restaurant Week of Valmiera Region!

From November 18 to December 1, experience the fashion of autumn flavours in the restaurants and cafes of Valmiera region!

Just as each season has its own dominant fashion trends, the exquisite menus of the Restaurant Week have chosen their autumn harvest heroes – crisp apples, juicy beets, Latvians’ favourite – potatoes, vitamin-rich berries, aromatic and warming peppers, which will be complemented by many other seasonal delicacies. Locally grown and produced goods from local farmers are also in fashion, which is why the cooperation of each restaurant and cafe is highlighted, promoting wider recognition and sustainability of local producers. Visitors of the Restaurant Week will have a great opportunity to enjoy a three-course meal worth EUR 30 with a selection of matching drinks for an additional fee. In order to enjoy the special offers, an advance reservation is required.

Get to know the menus!

The restaurant “Akustika“, which was included in the prestigious “Michelin Guide” last year, will take you on a gastronomic journey with nuanced taste contrasts, highlighting the produce of the company “Cietais rieksts” Ltd. – Latvian berries and mushrooms. In the berry symphony, hearty meat and seafood products, as well as an airy delicate dessert will stand out.

The restaurant “Rātes vārti” will create exquisite and original dishes, with special emphasis on the local autumn treasure – sea buckthorn, which will give the meal a delicate splendour, sour freshness and bitter sweetness. The restaurant’s long-term cooperation partner is Jānis Grava from the local farm “Bagātne“. As a tribute to Latvia’s centenary, Jānis planted a sea buckthorn garden where he works together with his sons, believing that he can make Latvia more beautiful, its people – happier and healthier.

Valmiermuižas alus virtuve (Valmiermuiža beer kitchen) will offer a leisurely taste of food, rooted in nature and nurtured with creativity, to specially complement locally brewed beer. The menu will highlight the goods of local farms – autumn roots and fruits from nearby gardens, cheeses made by Latvian masters, honey from well-known beekeepers and flour from grains grown in local fields. Frothy beer will not only be filled in glasses, but also added to cooking juicy, beer-cured pork, baking bread and making sauce. Enhancing the long-term cooperation with Santa Rumba from the organic farm “Mežvijas”, special honour will be given to the beetroot, emphasizing its compatibility with diverse beer flavours.

The restaurant of the hotel “Wolmar“ will take you on a unique pepper taste journey together with Jurģis Pēteris from “Asais Pipars“. Jurģis is a restaurant chef who also grows peppers, making different sauces and snacks from them for lovers of all kinds of spiciness. Jurģis’ cherished brand “Asais Pipars” (“Spicy pepper”) has obtained the label “Made in Valmiera region”. Each dish is designed to reveal the different nuances of the vitamin-rich pepper – from soft, warming tones to strong and expressive flavours.

The café “Ahh-meat” will ensure a wonderful gastronomic experience in a family-friendly, hospitable atmosphere. The home apple harvest from the local farm “Pumpuru drava” will be dressed up in creative variations and expressive taste accents. The farm is managed with great care and love by Tatjana Lukjanova, the mother of the cafe owner, and it is in autumn that the beloved family garden turns into a real wonderland, when deep red, golden yellow, juicy-crunchy and vitamin-rich apples shine in the apple trees.

Filled with a warm and cozy atmosphere, cafe “Būda” in Mazsalaca will surprise you with new flavours and textures, highlighting the well-known and beloved product of Latvians – potatoes, which, thanks to a successful three-year cooperation, come from Gita Dukure’s farm. An important role in the menu will be played by the cooking method – salting (lacto-fermentation), creating new flavours and beneficial bacteria for the human body. Food will be served in “Vidusmeži keramika” brand dishes created by artist Linda Zelta.
