The interior of the Woodwork Museum in the Vienkoči Park imitates the interior of an old workshop from the end of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century.
The workshop is run by skilful woodworkers that create various objects from wood. This is the place where the Vienkoči Park sculptures were carved.
The workshop has a woodworking tool collection and you will have the chance to take a look at it and get to know more about the function of each tool. It consists of ancient, unique tools as well as the Sheffield carving tools the quality of which is widely known around the world.
The most interesting items on exhibit are the wooden pipe drills and the most sophisticated plane in the world.
The Woodwork Museum also has a collection of wooden items and wood samples from around the world.
You can get the most out of the museum visit by having a guided tour with a tour guide that is well-informed about the nuances on every tool, type of wood and item in the collection.
Vienkoči Park Museum organises various thematic events (additional information can be found at www.vienkoci.lv). For example, you can attend the Fire Night at the first Sunday of October every year. During this event the Vienkoči Park forest is illuminated with candles and the visitors go on a torch walk, see fire performances and take part in workshops and activities.
