Beautiful flow of the Gauja river and landscape are observable from the bridge.
The history of construction of the railway bridge is fascinating and interesting. It was built and destroyed several times, built 6 times and destroyed 5 times to be exact. The building of the railway line Rīga - Gulbene was started during the WWI in 1915.The railway was built by prisoners of war who lived near the forest cemetery. Opposite to the place where the railway line with a deep trench crosses the hill, remnants of large dugouts could be observed even after the WWII. Here, the prisoners of war lived. When building the railway, old cemetery was discovered. During the war none took care about it, however, later on, several excavations took place and some valuable findings were discovered. The new station in Jaunpiebalga was named Gauja.
