Straupe Farmers Market

At Straupe Farmers’ Market you can see and purchase local goods both for your tummy and home!

The market is set up in a unique cultural-historic building complex – Straupe Horse Post Office, which surprises with its historical atmosphere and creative renewing spirit. The market is the only regular market for small local producers in the Baltic States, which has been included in the prestigious Slow Food Earth Markets alliance and it works hard to maintain the ancient skills and use traditional products. Every year almost all of Latvia’s winemakers attend the Winemakers Festival. On the market days, the 1st and 3rd Sunday, Straupe Horse Post Office kitchen is also opened.

In the Farmers' market, which is located in a cosy yard, you can purchase fresh, organically grown products such as various vegetables, fruit, berries, delicious cheeses, meat smoked according to ancient traditions, home-grown medicinal herb teas, home-made cakes and other delicacies. People particularly treasure the mellow home-made wines which you can enjoy together with goods purchased at the market.

Here you can purchase beautiful crafts too — sturdy wooden cutting boards and spoons, traditional clay mugs and bowls, hand-made wicker baskets, hand-woven table cloths and linen clothing, as well as knits with traditional Latvian patterns and symbols.

The goods purchased at the market will bring you pleasant memories of the things seen and experienced on your trip!
