Soomaa National Park

Located on the border of Pärnu and Viljandi counties, the national park is associated with the fifth season for many, when high water creates giant ice rinks on the floodplains or turns forests navigable by canoe. Soomaa has preserved the tradition of building and using single-bladed boats called haabjas – this characteristic tradition of Soomaa is listed as UNESCO intangible cultural heritage.

Soomaa is undoubtedly the right place to enjoy the beauty and power of nature. The marshes and bogs here offer plenty of opportunities for hiking. Depending on the season, you can move around Soomaa by canoe or stand-up paddleboard, haabja or kick sled, skis or bikes, snowshoes or ice skates, on foot or on horseback. You won't get bored here – come and see for yourself!

The Soomaa tourism area surrounding the entire national park offers exciting discoveries. Culture enthusiasts are invited to museums and churches, food enthusiasts are welcomed by open farms and hospitable small producers, you can participate in thematic workshops and observe animals. The tiredness of a busy day is swept away by a relaxing sauna, and the kind hosts offer delicious food and cozy accommodation.

It's worth coming to Soomaa for several days. Come alone or with family, a couple of friends, or a larger group, to relax or discuss business matters, to seek inner balance or to challenge yourself. You are welcome!
