Lahemaa National Park

Lahemaa National Park was founded in 1971 for the preservation, research, and introduction of the North-Estonian nature and cultural heritage, biodiversity, landscapes, national culture, and conservative natural management. It protects historical and architectural monuments, and the ecosystems of forests, swamps, and beaches.

It is located on the southern shore of the Gulf of Finland and covers Estonia's northernmost capes and islands. In the space of 725 km2, you’ll find lush native forests, wetlands stretching to the horizon, and both rocky and sandy beaches.

Lahemaa National Park boasts diverse wildlife, including moose, boar, bears, beavers, and lynx. Migratory birds pass through annually.

These massive rock formations traveled from Finland and Scandinavia to Estonia with the glaciers during the last Ice Age

The total area of Lahemaa National Park is 747,84 sq km, of which 479,10 sq km of mainland and 268,74 sq km of sea.
