On August 25th of this year, the medieval courtyard of Lielstraupe Castle will come to life, creating an atmosphere of warmth and inspiring discoveries.
Throughout the day, the Lielstraupe Castle Festival will take place, with the mission of introducing local and regional residents to high-quality and diverse ancient music and performance culture, presented by outstanding professionals.
Program:
12:00 PM and 2:30 PM: Ancient tower music at the Thieves’ Staircase: Riga Sackbutt Ensemble
12:00 PM – 5:00 PM: Castle Cake Stand, Medieval Cuisine (Meals with a Story)
12:30 PM and 2:30 PM: Art Masterclass in the Castle Courtyard with artist Elizabete Melbārde (painter of princesses and queens)
1:00 PM – 2:00 PM: Ancient Music at Straupe Church: Meder and Buxtehude. Performed by musicians from Latvia, Estonia, and Finland
3:00 PM: Presentation by young international restorers about their discoveries in the Great Hall of the castle
5:00 PM – 6:00 PM: Vilis Daudziņš and musicians: Erasmus of Rotterdam’s “In Praise of Folly”
Additionally, inside the castle, you can view an exhibition of Elizabete Melbārde's works titled "Drama Queen" and in the first-floor salon, Iveta Šmite's solo exhibition "In Motion."
