"Mārtiņdiena" celebration at the Turaida Museum Reserve

The Turaida Museum Reserve invites you to celebrate the old year-round festivity – Mārtiņš day, which is celebrated as the closing of the autumn season and is a gateway to the winter. In Turaida during the Mārtiņš day festivity the fire is made to share old traditions. Participants of the festivity are invited to dress in bright Gypsy clothes or to transform into other images and to celebrate the start of winter in Turaida!
