Gauja National park Travelers Day

Save the date and explore hidden gems of Gauja National park

From October 12 to 13, we invite all nature and adventure enthusiasts to embark on educational hikes and discover the most beautiful autumn landscapes in Latvia. This year's theme for the Gauja National Park Traveler Days is "Travel Nature-friendly," encouraging exploration of the natural, cultural, and historical treasures in a sustainable way.

The big bus tour

On October 12, join an exciting bus tour as part of Traveler Days in Gauja National Park, with the theme "Travel Nature-friendly"! During this tour, you will experience various unique attractions, offering a chance to discover both natural and human-made wonders in the Gauja region.

Tour stops:

  • Red Cliffs in Cēsis: A stunning natural formation that offers picturesque views and unique rock exposures.
  • Raiskumietis Brewery. During the tour you will learn a little about Raiskum today and the history of this ancient, beautiful place. There will be an opportunity to see and listen to the story of the brewery with its unique wood-fired boiler, oven and meat smokehouse. After the tour, guests will be welcomed in a cozy tasting room. You will taste all the goodies of the bakery and smokehouse - cheese and oat biscuits, smoked meat. In addition to all this, you can enjoy 3 types of "Raiskumieša" beer - light, dark and cherry. 
  • Mini Zoo Mežiņi: A thrilling encounter with both local and exotic animals. Enjoy lunch of local products and observe a wool-making workshop.
  • Vaidava Ceramics: Visit one of Latvia’s most famous ceramic centers, where you can watch local artisans at work and purchase unique ceramic pieces. Vaidava Ceramics has been crafting handmade items from Lode clay for 30 years.

The tour starts at 10:00 AM on October 12 at the Smilšu parking lot near Cēsis Market and will end around 5:00 PM at the same location.

  • Raiskumietis Brewery -Excursion-tasting price is 10 EUR per person. For seniors and young people (from the age of 14) the price is 7 EUR. Children up to 14 years old - for free.

Discover Cēsis' Manors and Castles by Bike

On October 12, in collaboration with Cēsis Inside and Elektro Eži, explore Cēsis’ manors and castles on a special, unique cycling route!

Participants are encouraged to "travel green," arriving in Gauja National Park by train or bus and exploring Cēsis and its surroundings by bike. Participants from Riga and Sigulda are invited to arrive by train at Cēsis Railway Station at 12:50 PM. The guide will meet participants at Elektro Eži, Rīgas Street 51A, Cēsis. You can join the tour with your own bike or rent an e-bike at Elektro Eži. The tour departs at 1:30 PM.

During the tour, you will explore:

  • Manors and castles in Cēsis and the surrounding area, including stories about Zeltkalns Manor, Ruckas Manor, Cēsis Castle Manor, and other historic gems.
  • You will also enjoy tea and apple cake

  • Starting point: Elektro Eži, Rīgas street 51A
  • E-bike rental: €25/day
  • Event organization fee: €10
  • Apple pie and tea: €5
  • Duration: approx. 3 hours
  • Route: Circular, 18 km
  • The tour will proceed if there are at least 10 participants.

Hike “Sigulda TrejDeviņi”

On October 13, join the lifestyle and wellness tourism agency "Power Journey" and the Power Travelers for an expedition along Sigulda’s trails, canyons, hillforts, and caves in the glorious autumn colors on the “Sigulda TrejDeviņi” hike.

  • Route: Pētera Cave - Kraukļa Cave- Satezele Canyon - Gauja riverside - Paradise View - Pēteralas Street parking lot.
  • Distance: 9 km, suitable for families with children aged 8 and older.
  • Start time: 9:00 AM at Pēteralas Street parking lot.
  • Duration: 4-4.5 hours.
  • Contribution: From €9 as a donation.

Hike with Restaurant in nature

On October 13, we invite you to explore the banks of the Amata River and enjoy a picnic-style meal prepared by our friends from Kalna Paltes.

This hike follows the right bank of the Amata River, offering views of magnificent cliffs and hidden caves. Starting at Zvārtes Rock Information Center, we will hike to "Veclauču Bridge" and back.

The hike will reveal unseen landscapes, only accessible by venturing into nature, including cliffs such as "Vizbulīšu Rock" and "Vanagu Rock." On the way back, there will be an opportunity to climb the majestic "Zvārtes Rock."

After the hike, enjoy a refined three-course meal in nature, provided by Kalna Paltes farm.

Cost per traveler: €45 (includes everything mentioned above).

By Train to Gauja National Park

We invite you to explore Gauja National Park by train! For a comfortable and eco-friendly journey, we’ve created special travel programs that will allow you to discover fascinating cultural and natural sites near train stations. Choose a route, travel easily by train to Gauja National Park, and enjoy the beautiful landscapes, unique historical monuments, and unforgettable adventures!

The "Train to Sigulda" route offers a convenient way to reach Sigulda from Riga and enjoy the natural landscapes, cultural, and historical sites of Gauja National Park. Explore places like Gutman’s Cave, the sandstone cliffs of Vējupīte Gorge, and visit Sigulda Castle and scenic viewpoints with stunning views of the Gauja Valley.

The "Train to Cēsis" trip invites you to travel from Riga and experience the charm of the historic town of Cēsis in one day. The route includes the town’s key sights—Cēsis Old Town, the Medieval and New Castles, St. John’s Church, as well as natural attractions like the Cīrulīši Nature Trails and the Red Cliffs.

The invitation to take the train to Valmiera offers a journey through Gauja National Park, where you can enjoy the scenic landscapes during a two-hour train ride. In Valmiera, visitors can explore the city’s historical charm and the promenade by Dzirnavu Lake.
